Well, it has been six weeks since I was last in the country. By the looks of the grass in the field, there has been plenty of rain. I spent a couple of hours Saturday morning mowing the entrance and the drive and another half hour Sunday afternoon mowing the future garden spot (where I now have my solar panel).

The rest of the day Saturday was spent working on kitchen sink drain plumbing. Finally, I got all the parts I needed to correctly attach the sink basins to the drain line. Someday, I hope to have a source of running water to attach to a spigot ;)

Saturday afternoon, I moved some of the firewood pile and dug the trench for the drain line from under the back porch out to the azalea bed. Then made a flying run to Summerville for a length of drain pipe and a few fittings (stopping at Lucky's on the way back for grill meat).

I still need to dig a collecting basin at the edge of the flower bed and fill it with rocks. Then I can extend the drain the rest of the way and cover everything over.

Saturday night (Saturnight?) I had grilled chicken and whitebread for supper - how southern :-P
I also grilled a pork shoulder for later meals.
Sunday, I spent the morning measuring and counting the steel roofing Chuck gave me to see how big a barn I could cover. I made some calculations and a half-hearted stab at laying out the footprint of the future workshop. It will be at least 20'x30' - probably a little larger. I also want to leave room on either side for future expansion.
For lunch I had four single-slice tomato sandwiches - all from a single home-grown tomato of monsterous proportions. Carolyn and I have been pretty successful with our vegetable garden this year.
After lunch, I did the aforementioned mowing and then a little target practice and some gun cleaning. Then it was time to pack up and head back to the big city :(
All in all, the weather was pretty nice - not too hot during the day and downright comfortable at night.
